The Parallax Project

A fully homemade parallax system featuring image optimization, lazy loading, and a debug mode. I initially built it for the first version of my portfolio website and decided to keep improving it with each iteration.

The parallax effect is created by moving the background images at different speeds than the foreground content, adding a sense of depth. You can enable both the debug mode (to display additional information) and the overflow mode (to see how each frame moves outside the user viewport).

WaaS (cybearl)

Website as a Service: a platform that lets a web designer build, preview and publish their clients' websites from a single place, without ever touching a server. Each designer manages their own clients and sites, and shares password-protected previews with them.

Behind the dashboard, a self-hosted Silex (GrapesJS) builder outputs static sites served by Nginx, and only lets in requests the dashboard vouches for. The dashboard itself is a Next.js app with tRPC, Drizzle on PostgreSQL and better-auth, everything shipped as Docker images through GitHub Actions.

Currently in development, only the dashboard is publicly accessible.

GitGame (cybearl)

A desktop app that takes the pain out of Git LFS for Unreal Engine 5 projects. It shows the repository as a searchable tree of LFS files, locks and unlocks assets in a click (whole folders included), and opens the project in the Unreal Editor, a terminal or a code editor.

Its party trick is auto-locking: it talks to an MCP server running inside the editor, notices which assets you're modifying, and locks them for you. It also keeps the clangd compile database in sync with the C++ sources. Built with Electron, React and React95, because a Git tool deserves a Windows 95 look.

Available for Windows, macOS and Linux through GitHub releases.

FIX OFF · 16:9

BGE Widescreen Fix

A C++ mod that makes Beyond Good & Evil 20th Anniversary Edition use the whole screen on ultrawide displays. Out of the box, the game renders in 16:9 with black bars on anything wider, the fix removes them with Hor+ (the same vertical field of view, more on the sides), while the HUD, menus and loading screens stay centered in their original 16:9 layout.

Getting there meant reverse engineering the engine: static analysis of the executable in Python (pefile, capstone), then Cheat Engine to pin down the render target clamp, the 16:9 virtual screen and the camera FOV writers. The DLL is loaded by Ultimate ASI Loader, finds its targets through byte signatures and hooks them with SafetyHook, built in C++23 with Clang, CMake and vcpkg.

Available through GitHub releases, every fix can be toggled from an INI file.

Background

CyPack (cybearl)

A published npm package that centralizes the utilities I reuse across Cybearl projects. It works in both browser and Node.js, and is split into three entry points (universal, backend, frontend) so each environment only ships what it needs. It's unit tested with Vitest, and every release is published automatically through semantic-release.

Inside, you'll find a zero-dependency isomorphic logger next to a pino-based server one, typed wrappers for Next.js API routes, AES-256-GCM helpers, a typed-buffer class extending Uint8Array, environment variable validation that catches private variables leaking into the client bundle, BigInt-safe formatting, and plenty of smaller helpers.

Celk (cybearl)

A brute-forcing experiment for Bitcoin and Ethereum addresses, mostly built for fun. This app lets you create lists of target addresses with automatic balance fetching, then dispatches the work to a pool of native C++ workers.

It's structured as a monorepo: a Next.js app handles the UI, auth and database, while the heavy lifting (key derivation, hashing and address comparison) runs in standalone C++ workers orchestrated through a message broker.

Cybearl

A long-term project aimed at creating a web application that serves as a central hub for all my projects, services, and tools. Similar to a sandbox, it will integrate many microservices and API endpoints, allowing me to experiment with new technologies and ideas.

I may eventually open the platform to the public, offering different access levels and pricing plans, but for now, it's a personal project.

Huawei SMS Forwarding

Archived

A Python CLI program I built a long time ago and recently updated. It lets you manage SMS messages received on a 4G Huawei router.

Why? Since a 4G router uses a SIM card, it has a phone number and can send and receive SMS. However, sending messages usually requires accessing the router's web interface. This app solves that by forwarding incoming SMS directly to your phone or automatically replying to them.
